On Monday 8th May 2017, a fabulous evening of cheese and wine tasting was held at Waitrose hereford, raising awareness of youth homelessness in Herefordshire and raising funds to support the work that SHYPP provide to young people across Herefordshire.
All of the cheese and wines were provided from Waitrose and the specialist Muriel Holmes guided us through the variety of cheeses and the wines chosen for the evening.
This was my first event fundraising for SHYPP since becoming a volunteer since leaving the service as a young person myself and I was very nervous for the evening standing up in front of over 30 people. In attendance for the evening was local parliament candidate and Hereford’s Mayor Mr Jim Kenyon and deputy Lieutenant of Herefordshire.
It was great to see new people at a SHYPP fundraiser and being able to network with them and to spread the word of the fantastic support shypp provides since the funding cuts of 2016. With my first event done, I can’t wait to get stuck in with organising more fundraising events and continue to raise the profile of SHYPP and the fantastic work the project does.
On the evening we had raffle prizes kindly donated from:
School Uniform Shop Hereford
Cheeses & Wine Hamper from Helen Edwards
Box of chocolates from Muriel Holmes
Special thanks to all staff that helped on the evening with networking and selling raffle tickets. Alicia Lawrence (Head of SHYPP) Ellie Prescott (Young Person Worker) and Helen Parker. Most importantly a massive thank you to Waitrose Hereford Partners for serving us with a fabulous selection of cheese and wine. The total amount raised from this event was £483, this is amazing and will go towards helping to improve young peoples lives.
