What a fantastic day of playing golf, raising awareness of youth homelessness in Herefordshire and raising funds to support the work that SHYPP do.
The event was held at Burghill Valley Golf Club which was the perfect location, with beautiful views, an amazing course and hospitable staff. The club helped with making sure the day went smoothly, answering all my golf questions, helping with the scoring, donating a prize and serving delicious food. I would like to say a really big thank you to all the staff especially Dan Noar who was our Beat the Pro for the day.
The Golf tournament gained a phenomenal amount of support from local businesses, which helped the day become a real success. ABC Print kindly donated personalised SHYPP score cards which helped us to raise awareness and also a lovely banner which welcomed the participants as they arrived at the golf club. Lima, Ledbury Poetry Festival, Biffa and Savills all kindly sponsored a hole, which helped us to hit our fundraising target and it was great to have all their support. Lots of companies donated generous raffle prizes and I would like to say a big thank you to them for helping to make the day a success.
A lot of organising went into the day and it would not have been possible without my colleagues. I would like to thank our fundraising volunteer Seb Bowley who put a lot of hard work in by advertising, getting teams and helping to run the day. Also to Cathy Holmes who helped with all the admin and kept me organised! Finally a big thank you to all the other staff who helped on the day. The film and pictures by Rich Hankins and Kie Cummings look amazing and are a great way to commemorate the day.
We could not of had a golf tournament without all of the teams who took part, thank you for your support. The atmosphere on the day was fantastic; the sun shone in the end and it was lovely to meet you all. We will see you all again next year!
The total raised on the day was: £3,243.01
